Nicaragua Red Catuai – Café Diego Microlot

This coffee comes to us through a nearly 20-year direct trade partnership with our friends at Theta Ridge—a relationship built on trust, shared values, and a commitment to doing things the right way. Over the years, that partnership has meant better prices for the farm, higher wages for workers, and the resources needed to grow not just more coffee, but better coffee.

One of the most meaningful outcomes of that work is the development of Café Diego’s microlot program. By nurturing smaller, carefully managed plots, the farmers are able to give each plant the attention it deserves—resulting in coffees that express their terroir with remarkable clarity. Our Red Catuai comes from this program and stands as a testament to what long-term collaboration and intentional agriculture can create.

Grown in the volcanic soil of Finca El Dorado, this coffee is naturally floral and sweet, with delicate fruit notes that shine brightest when treated with care. We chose a very light roast to honor that character, allowing the inherent beauty of the varietal and the land to come forward.

Brewed as a pour over, it’s elegant, expressive, and quietly exceptional—a coffee shaped by decades of dedication.
