Ethiopia Heirloom – Mesela, Harrar

Ethiopia Heirloom – Mesela, Harrar

This release marks a milestone: the first Grade 1 natural lot to emerge from Ethiopia’s storied Harrar region. In the birthplace of coffee, farmers continue to cultivate heirloom varietals—ancient, diverse species that have adapted to this land for centuries. The result is a depth of character that simply can’t be engineered anywhere else.

Sourced from numerous smallholder farmers in Mesela, these tiny lots are brought together at the mill, where the coffee undergoes triple sorting to remove defects and preserve only the cleanest, most expressive cherries. That level of care shows in the cup.

This coffee is vibrant and layered—tart and fruit-forward, reminiscent of plum wine, with a dry, black-tea finish that lingers gracefully. We chose an intentionally very light roast to let its natural complexity shine, especially when brewed as a filter coffee.

A rare expression from a historic region—clean, bright, memorable.
